E-Safety

Here are our top e-safety tips:

• When you receive an email from someone you don't know which says something like "You've won free tickets to Las Vegas" then do not click on it and do not open the attachment or put any personal details in as this may be a virus or a "phishing" scam. Ask an adult for help before you go on any websites you are unsure of.

• Never trust someone giving you anything for free - check the details very carefully and ask an adult for help

• If you get a nasty email report it to someone you know - a parent or teacher - and report it to the police at www.thinkuknow.co.uk if it is serious or repeated

• Never meet someone from the internet and if you must always take a parent with you and only meet in public places

• If you receive a text message saying something like "We are going to get you after school" then you have to tell your parents, a teacher and ask an adult to call the police for you

• If someone text you asking to come to their house then you must discuss it with your mum or dad or carer

• When you are on the computer do not copy or download more than 5% of someone else's work - websites, movies, music etc - and always gives copyright to say where you got it from if it is something you have copied

• If someone sends you a website to go on and you are not sure what it is delete it in case they are using it to hack into your phone or in case it has a virus

• Never trust someone giving you something for free as it might be stolen and you can get the blame. Check where things came from and why they are giving it away. Also check with their parents that they do not mind them giving it away if they bought it for them.

• If your friend asks for personal information on facebook or MSN do not give it to them. Give it to them in person as you never know if someone has hacked into an account and is reading your messages
